Avon Simply Pretty Blush in Blooming Peach: Review and Swatches

Sometimes (actually most of the time!) the miser in me hopes for good pigmented, quality makeup at a really inexpensive price. πŸ˜€ When I saw the Avon Simply Pretty blushers I was really excited especially since the entire collection was revamped with better formulation, packaging and quality but at almost the same pocket friendly price I couldn’t ask for more. So I bought Blooming Peach from this collection

Type: Powder Blush
Packaging: A purple circular case with a transparent lid. Comes with a brush
Price: 199 INR
Quantity: 2 g

Blooming Peach is a soft peachy pink color with hints of silver shimmer.

Unfortunately I was not very happy with the product. Read on to know more about the sad story

Likes:
  • Inexpensive; Friendly on the pocket
  • Quantity given is quite a lot for the price we pay. And these are always on offer!

Dislikes:
  • The colour looks lovely and bright in the pan but looks can deceive anyone. The color which you get when you apply this on your cheeks is not exactly the same as what is in the pan.
  • Pigmentation is the biggest problem; the color payoff is terrible; The color just doesn’t show up on my cheeks!!
  • Poor staying power; Before I could get out of the house and travel to a coffee shop and flaunt the color, POOF!! It vanished!!
  • It could have an inbuilt mirror  (I know Im asking for too much for the price we pay for it but if they add this and improve their formulation I wouldn’t mind paying more!)
  • The brush is not of much help. The bristles of the brush/ hair are haywire and its impossible to use it.

Swatch:

I had to scrape some of the blush from the pan to actually swatch it! So it is not chalky. Its just that I have too much on my finger. πŸ˜€

Since I have dry skin and this is a powder blush I  thought maybe my skin was the culprit so first I decided to apply a cold cream as a base and then applied the blush; It stayed for an hour longer; that’s it!!

My mom has oily skin so she tried it on and it didn’t last for more than an hour and a half for her! (But she has taken it from me because she loves blushers!!)

Overall I would give this one 2/5. :( Skip it! If you really want to try a blush from Avon do go in for the True Color ones. Im sure you wont be disappointed (will review that soon!)

  • thanks deepika,,i was about to buy these, they look cute na!!

  • @Namita :) they look cute :) but im not happy with the quality and formulation.. :( what is your skin type?

  • my skin is a combination one.. :)
    yup,,the quality is not nice,,

  • Ani

good review………….i know this is not good blush :(….. avon true color blush is good :D..

  • Emm

    packaging is cute though:)

  • @Namita Try the true color one.. Ill review it sometime next week. :)

  • @Ani thanks ani :) the true color one is more pigmented and is of better quality. :)

  • @Emm ya and thats precisely why my mom has taken it from me. She loves her blushers and even if the quality is not good she loves collecting them if the packaging is cute πŸ˜€

  • @Deepika

oh i will..will chk that one out once u review it :)

  • @Namita Have you tried anything from Avon? Which ones are your favorites?

  • @Deepika

Yep some of them,,glimmersticks, lipsticks and such,,never tried their blushes,
    :)

  • i know.hv heard really bad things abt this blush pehle bhi. They should either improve the formulation or just remove these from their catalogues only. 😐 😐 😐

  • @jyoti true.. but you know what there are so many people who buy this one.

As a rep, from the no. of orders Ive gotten till now this features in most of them. and even though I try convincing people that this is not worth it and the true color one is a better buy some people dont get it. :(

Just because the packaging is cute and it is cheap in terms of price people do buy it :(

  • Nafisa

Was waiting for this review. Thanks Deeps…will stay away from this 1 :-)

  • You’re welcome Nafisssss πŸ˜€ You can try the true color one though. They are really pigmented and good for beginners and Im sure it’ll suit your skin type

  • thats a bad blush :-/ brush loooks scaryy :-S

  • I know.. I threw the brush.. :( no use to me.. If it was longer it could have been used for dusting purposes πŸ˜€ btw Oops.. wanted to ask you. How do you add the smiley box below the “post a comment” text? need help :(

  • too bad abt d quality bt it look cute =P
    nice review dear

  • Avon is such a nice brand and Simply Pretty lipsticks are amazing! Too bad the blushes are disasters… honest review Deeps :)

  • @sunaa thanks Sunaa :X

  • @Novice Makeup Thank you :) The lipsticks are really good.. Ive reviewed them. I love the kajal and eyepencils and not to forget the nailpolishes in the simply pretty collection… :) But somehow this one’s a miss :(

  • as the name itself suggests it is a pretty pink but its sad tht it doesnt work..

  • I agree Deeps…the blushes from this range ar such a disappointment..all 3 r crappy! the tru color ons r so fab that this is such a let don :(

  • @Zara
and you bought all three colors na? πŸ˜€ whatte pity.. πŸ˜›

  • hehe..i went beserk..wot can i do…its ok if someone is just starting out with blush but ive beenusing blush for long now and thats y it irks at m….wot a pity is the right thing t say :)

  • i dont even think it is ok for beginners coz the color doesnt show up and unless you see the color you’ll never learn whether you are going in the right direction or not. The true color ones are good for beginners.. how are the oriflame ones?
