Deborah Milano 5 in 1 BB Cream: 04 Apricot: Review/Swatch/FOTD

Hola peeps!
Yay! TGIF!! My week was pretty crazy but my weekend is going to be slightly more relaxed and I’m looking forward to it! How was your week? And to end the week on a good note, the review on the blog today is about my current favourite BB Cream!!

There are these rare products that you accidentally discover and stay loyal to them till the very end and the Deborah Milano 5-in-1 BB Cream is one of them, atleast for me. Janani (a really good friend and a writer of Divassence!) went in search of Rimmel products for me in Bangalore and blame my stupid luck, the counter was closed!! Curses!! So she headed to the Deborah Milano counter since we do not get Deborah Milano products in Chennai and picked up this BB Cream and a blush for me and I must say, I love both of them with my heart and soul!

Frankly, I had no expectations from this particular BB Cream. When I read the claims I thought they were pretty huge for a BB cream but once I used it, it proved me wrong.

Price: 650 INR for 30 ml

Description of what the BB Cream does:

5-in-1 BB CREAM, a skin perfecting, all-in-one foundation with a multi-performance formula:
1. first it smoothes and primes skin;
2. then it conceals and minimises imperfections;
3. evens out skin tone,
4. moisturises and nourishes skin,
5. and protects it against UV radiation and pollution.

Featuring a multi-function formula, beauty balm offers skin a host of benefits plus perfect skin in just one product. Hypoallergenic, with a delicate violet scent.

SPF20 for effective protection from photoageing.

Packaging: The sleek black tube that it comes in spells C-L-A-S-S!! Compared to other BB Creams and the tubes they come in, this one isn’t bulky. The outer carton as well as the tube has all the necessary details on it.

There are a total of 6 shades available (5 in India) and I have No.4 Apricot which is perfect for my skin tone. The BB Cream has a slight pink tone to it which is perfect for me.

How I use it: I take very little and apply it using my tried and tested tool, my fingers. This gives me an even application and covers 80% of imperfections and pigmentation. I take a little more and go over areas where I think I might need more coverage.

Consistency: The BB Cream is neither too runny nor is it thick in terms of consistency. It is somewhere in-between and is perfect for blending with your fingers with very little effort.

Coverage: Coverage-wise, this BB cream is much better than the other ones in the Indian market. It almost comes up to the level of a medium coverage foundation, except that this is lighter and when worn, it feels like second skin!! If your dark circles are worse than panda eyes (the reference we always use 😀 poor ol’ panda!!) then you might need concealer but otherwise only this BB Cream will do. Apart from that, it evens out your skin  tone and covers blemishes. The BB Cream needs to be layered if you have mild acne and a concealer would be necessary if you have a terrible case of acne, scars or pimples.

The BB cream does not clog pores nor does it look patchy and uneven when used. There are some foundations which despite the blending, look patchy. This one makes the skin look smooth, minimizes pores and gives the skin an even finish. The only thing I would like to point out here is that the “ghost-like” white cast is inevitable due to the SPF factor (SPF 20) but it vanishes in 5 minutes or so.

The BB Cream has a strong floral scent to it but it disappears once blended. So that is a good thing since I am averse to anything that has a strong scent especially when used on my face!!

Finish: The BB cream, apart from a decent coverage, sets as a matte finish, but as a soft matte. It does not give you that “oh-so awesome” glow that the Garnier BB cream gives, but it doesn’t make the skin look dull.  I have extremely dry skin and the slightly oily feeling  after a while doesn’t bother me. If you have oily skin, then the oiliness and shine after a while might bother you.  In terms of keeping the skin hydrated,I would recommend using a moisturizer before using this especially if you have extremely dry skin like mine. This one fails in that department!!

Staying Power: Like I mentioned earlier, I have extremely dry skin and so any foundation or BB Cream when used lasts much longer than it usually does on others. It lasted on me for 7 hours which means on others (normal or combination skin) it should last for about 5 to 5 and a half hours and even less on oily skin.

The only two cons I can point out here are the lack of availability and the price. I guess if Deborah Milano is considered to be a drugstore brand, then this particular BB Cream is the most expensive drugstore one available in the Indian market!

In the picture blow, I’ve layered the BB Cream twice on my entire face and I’ve used a concealer to cover my dark circles. Apart from blackheads and dark circles  I would say I am very happy with the way my skin looks without makeup. This one makes my skin look near flawless!!
Final Word: Apart from the issue of availability and price, I would say this is by far one of the best BB Creams avaialble in the Indian Market.
