I was in search of the perfect pink lipstick for me at the MAC store a few days back. When I was suggested Captive, it looked too dark in the tube for me and I thought “Oh well! another shade not meant for me!” but when I tried it on i loved it! (although it isn’t a pink as such..but what the hell! we are allowed to deviate from our goals once in a while, aren’t we? đ )
MAC describes Captive as a pinkish plum lipstick with a satin finish. The color shows up as a dark warm pinkish plum on fair skintones and looks lighter on a darker skintone. Its a color that looks good on all skintones.Â
Â
Satin finish is a finish that isn’t completely matte but isn’t completely creamy either. It isn’t as difficult to apply as a matte lipstick and it has this hint of creaminess to it which makes application easy. This is good in the sense that you don’t have to worry about the lip color bleeding. It doesn’t dry out the lips either unlike a matte lipstick (if you have extremely dry chapped lips you need to scrub it for sure before using this lipstick.).Â
Â
MAC Satin lipsticks in general give an almost full coverage. I need to apply it only once to get the exact color on my lips. MAC Satin finish is the best for girls with pigmented lips.Â

Ingredients:
The color stayed on my lips for about 5 hours and then slowly faded leaving a pinkish tint on my lips. The color doesn’t budge from your lips unless you forcefully remove it.
I agree MAC lipsticks are expensive but that’s probably the only negative point I have about this lipstick! đ
Swatch:
Okay so here is my first ever lip swatch. đ
I’m wearing this lipstick here also!
You can see from the next picture as to how much I’ve used this lipstick! đ
Final Word: A universally flattering shade that is a combination of a matte and a creamy finish. I would definitely recommend this to everyone!
Has this shade captivated you? đ
