Maybelline has recently been taking the Indian beauty scene with storm with a whole range of affordable and quality products which cater to the needs of a wide range of consumers right from college goers to home makers to working execs. But if there is one product that almost every single woman has tried, it is their 6H Colossal kajal released a few years back. I was so faithful to this kajal for almost 2 years. I have used up close to 6-7 of these yellow pencils. Even today these hold a special place in my heart because they were the first beauty product as such I had tried.

Now Maybelline is back with new and improved Colossal kajal that they claim will stay on for 12 hours. Does this kajal do what they claim? Lets find out.
Today on Kohl Kompany we have The New Maybelline Colossal 12H Kajal up for review.
Maybelline decided to go with the same packaging that we are familiar with, bright canary yellow package with glossy black “Colossal Kajal” written on it. We have raved about it enough in the past. So lets move on.
Price: 175/- for 0.35g of the product, it is available everywhere !!! 😛
Here is what Maybelline claims about their New and improved colossal kajal:
So yeah, nothing much has changed since the 6H kajal. (Dee has reviewed the 6H version here). The pencil is a twist up version with no sharpening and no product wastage (yippeeee !!!! ). The cap shuts tight, so extremely travel friendly. The kajal is black, intense black but not the blackest of black (I am still searching for pencil version of that !!! Though you get blackest black color easily in Gel liners !! ). Smooth and creamy. It glides well on skin and after 5 mins sets to a matte finish.
One issue with this which I did not face with the 6H version was that this pencil is succeptable to breakage so twist up just enough to line ur eyes. If you twist up more, the pencil breaks. See this happened when I was swatching 🙁
Okay now about that BIG 12H smudge proof claim, not exactly. Here are two scenarios to compare.
- Eyes as dry as Sahara desert: well that’s mine so yes, it stayed for 8 hours without smudging on both upper and lower water line and on lids. But that is the longest I have tried this pencil on. I wore this the other day to my swimming class, and imagine my surprise. Its stayed put even after 1 hr of constant contact with chlorine water. So I’m hoping their claim will hold true for dry eyes.
- Eyes as oily as Arabian Oil wells: My sister. All eye pencils smudge on her lower waterline (she hates eye pencils, she likes liquids for this sole reason!!) and I had asked her to try this on for her office (bribed her is how it is. I had to curl her hair in exchange for this one small experiment !! Li’l sisters I tell ya !!!). She tried and here is her verdict. Stayed on her lid for more than 8 hrs but smudged on her waterline after 6 hrs. Not bad eh ??
There is enough experimentation that has gone around to certify this to be one hot fave at my place.
There you go. This pencil will be a girl’s best friend next to Diamonds of course !! My verdict on Maybelline Colossal 12H Kajal : go get it, try it, you will love it !!!
This is the last of Kohl Kompany review series. Next one will be a grand trial and the jury is out to judge which is the best. Stay tuned!!
Ciao :*
