Nykaa Cookie Crumble Nail Enamels Review

I was so excited when Nykaa launched their ‘cookie crumble’ nail enamel range that I picked up not one but three from the collection.

Nykaa Cookie Crumble Nail Enamel review

Now that just shows how much I love cookies. I mean, who wouldn’t want a cookie crumble nail polish?

What Nykaa says: Craving for a delicious nail art? The Nykaa Cookie Crumble Nail Enamel Collection is a superior nail lacquer loaded with matte black pigments that deliver intense, long-lasting colour. Perfect for times when you DO want a fun, instant nail art. This is ultimate collection for girls who wanna have fun! The Nykaa Cookie Crumble Nail Enamel Collection is like wearing tempting crushed cookies on your tips.

Price: INR 199 for 9ml

Packaging: A see-through glass bottle with a matte cap. As you can see from the picture, the cap has black flecks to match the actual nail polish. In terms of quality, the packaging is definitely A+!

The applicator: While the length of the applicator as a whole looks short compared to other nail enamels, the long handle (cap of the bottle) makes it easy to get a good grip and apply the nail colour.

If you are a fan of chunky glitter nail polishes and have the patience to remove the polish and clean up when it gets all over the place, then you’ll love this range. The nail enamel has black chunky and fine speckles to resemble cookie crumbs. The basic idea is that of a glitter nail polish but it is packaged and marketed differently.

Mint Choco Chip

The three nail enamels I picked from the collection are:

  • 188 Blueberry Shortbread: Pastel blue base with black flecks
  • 189 Mint Choco Chip: Pastel green base with black flecks
  • 193: Frosted Lemon: Pastel yellow base with black flecks
Frosted Lemon

Formula & Application

Blueberry Shortbread and Mint Choco Chip had a thicker consistency compared to Frosted Lemon. The latter one was a lot thinner and was the easiest to apply.

When I applied the first coat, the effect of the cookie crumble didn’t exactly come through. The base colour was transparent and the flecks were not dispersed evenly. The flecks settled on the bottom half of my nail. The second coat (thankfully) ensured an almost opaque base and with a little effort, I managed to make sure the flecks were distributed evenly.

Staying power

Without a top coat, the nail enamel lasted for four days on my nail. With a top coat, all three colours lasted for seven days without chipping.

How to remove the polish

So, it isn’t an easy task to remove these nail enamels, especially if you’ve applied a top coat over it. Furthermore, the black speckles get all over the place and it is a messy task. Like I had said earlier, think of it as a glitter polish. Remove it the way you would remove chunky glitter nail polish. There are several videos online on how to do it.

Rating: 3/5

Final word: In conclusion, the Nykaa Cookie Crumble nail enamel range is a unique concept but then again, there are issues with respect to consistency and application. While the staying power is a plus point, I’m not happy with the opacity of the base colour. Moreover, the speckles do not disperse evenly on the nail. My pick from the three would definitely be Frosted Lemon.

P.S.: The last two orders I had placed with Nykaa were major letdowns. Scratches on brushes’ handles, dirty beauty blenders, dirtier face mask packaging.. should I talk about in my next post? Let me know!
