When Victoria Moran, author of Fit from Within said, ‘Recreational shopping is the shortest distance between two points: you and broke..’ I clearly did not understand what it meant until I became a beauty blogger. Well, there are times when you really want to buy everything you see and the holiday season, especially the beginning of a brand new year is the best excuse to go crazy and empty your wallets. That’s precisely what I did on the 1st of this month and presenting to you, my crazy yet justified purchases on New Year’s. Justified because I bought only skincare and there are umpteen weddings coming up and my skin needs to look perfect and oh yes, I work in a corporate office now and unlike the times when I was either at school or rotting at home, smelling good matters here. 😛
Well, when I went to Express Avenue in Chennai, I headed straight to The Body Shop and bought the Limited Edition Vanilla Body Butter, Vanilla Body Mist, Olive Shower Gel and of course, my favourite exfoliating gloves. And yes, I finally got myself a membership card at TBS!! The body butter cost me a bomb but I’m not complaining! Vanilla is a scent I love and you’ll find a dozen of sweet vanilla scented candles at home too!!

Next I went to Lifestyle to pick upthe L’oreal 360 Cleanser for my mom after reading
Janani’s review and ended up picking Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief. It is neither a cream nor a gel and is of a wonderful consistency and my parched dry skin is loving it so far!

I’m loving all my purchases and I’m super duper happy with the way my new year has begun (despite the big drop in my bank balance :D).
My mom also gifted me a gorgeous kalamkari bag (not pictured here) which I’ll talk about in The Jhumka Diaries soon! 🙂
Hope you liked the haul. Let me know which one you would like me to review first.
How was your 1st of Jan?
